Hey Kalen, I think I know that trail you are talking about. Did that in the late Fall of 06, when my FJ was stock. If I'm not mistaken, the trail ends at an area called Mineral Flats. We were only able to run 1.5 to 2 miles of the trail before hitting a locked gate. Fireroad with a lot of pin-striping opportunities. Let me know when you want to try that later in the Summer - I would like to see if I can get farther.
This is Mark, we rode the Gold Bar Rim trail together. Enjoy your new diff.
Hey Mark,
Sounds like a plan, the trail looks like a blast and I've heard you really want to have some skids for that one. If you got some time in the morning, come on out tommorow to 5 mile. We're going to hit Rattlesnake and see what other creekbeds we can find to drive up.....fun stuff.
I'm out guys, kid up sick three times last night. I'm wiped out. Have fun, raining over Eagle Mountain according to the weather radar now. Be very careful in the stream beds. You'll be nice a muddy
So Steve and I hit 5 mile today, and we drove all over the place out there.
We went in via RattleSnake, to start out the day. After spending all last weekend in Moab doing 4 and 4+ trails, I never once had a need for rock sliders. Doing the short RattleSnake put me on high alert as there are several places to bash in the underside of your body...
Here is Steve heading up it:
Getting ready to go up the waterfall. I choose an intermediate line in the middle. Need to get the skids and sliders before I try the line all the way to the right.
I made it about 3/4ths the way thru this obstacle but had to back down and take the go around because I would have done some massive side door damage.
Here is Steve as we did mile after mile of narrow ATV trail.
Steve flexing heading up a steep spot:
Leading to this...in many spots the branches were just unavoidable. Anybody have a good buffer/wax recommendation
Looking back after heading up several steep shale-littered trails:
After negotiating several miles of extremely rutted roads, we made it close to the top of the BLM land area and had a heckavu view.

1. Dim your headlights for approaching vehicles, even if the gun is loaded, and the deer is in sight.
2. When approaching a four-way stop, the vehicle with the largest tires always has the right of way.
3. Never tow another car using panty hose and duct tape.
4. When sending your wife down the road with a gas can, it is impolite to ask her to bring back beer.
the trail was near the bottom of the moutians, we did follow another trail up and made it (from what I'm told) abot 75% through the trail and turned around because of the snow. I think it will clear in a few weeks maybe less. I should have another report tomorrow as my co worker went out there this weekend with his atv's

So I went out to 5 mile last night and ran RattleSnake...its a fun short track and a perfect way to enter the recreation area. Also found the trailhead to constrictor and thats as far as I went due to time/light restrictions. Needless to say, looks like body armour is a must on that trail as well as a winch. The sign also said front and rear lockers are a must and to expect severe body damage. :P
I also found a very cool rock waterfall not too far from the trail head that could serve as a tenacious warmup of sorts. Looks like a pretty tough obstacle, but it'd be fun to give it a shot to see if I could get up it.
When are we doing a Utah Cruisers sanctioned 5 Mile trip?
