Re: Utah Cruisers Run: Great Salt Lake Ghost Towns, May 18th 2008
I would be very interested in another trip in a few weeks. My family really wanted to come for this one but it just didn't work out. I am so glad to hear that you guys are considering another trip. My preference would be for a Saturday in late June or early July (but I acknowledge that Saturdays are difficult for some members of the group).

Thanks for the update.
I would stongly recommend that we do it in early September now. We need to plan stops at two spots we flew by at 50mph this time. June and July are absolutely brutal out there. When the temps in Salt Lake are 90 or 100 the temps out there are 110 to 120, conservatively. I know I can't take that lol. I'm glad you guys had fun. There is just so much history that way and so little time to enjoy it as it's so far away. Casey and I are thinking of tracking down the spots of two stage roberies that direction. Both start at one of the old ghost towns and end up in box canyons near the Idaho St. line. More the merrier. We will soon be doing many trips to old spots in the Uintas and around Price. Hope you all can make those.
I'm uploading pics as we speak. I got some pretty fun ones. I'll post up later tonight.

Just as a suggestion for those that went on our little drive yesterday, along with a good washing (esp underneath) I would recommend replacing your air filter. I pulled mine out and it had a good portion of the west desert lodged in the filter element. I also removed the inlet hose and filter housing and washed those out while replacing the filter. That dust is very fine and will work its way through the filter paper. I'm sure an oil change wouldn't be a bad idea.

Hey Mike, I was wondering about that! I will follow your advice.
Thank you all for a great time!! That was educational as well as scenic. Made me really think about all those came, worked and moved on... a few leaving their bones in the desert.

Thanks Scott for the great planning and leading as always. It was great to see everyone, and my mom had a BLAST!
Sprayed off the mud yesterday. Holy STINKY!
