I'm taking Sandi to Kansas for a paleontology field trip all next week (heading out early tomorrow morning).
This will be more like a working vacation of sorts. We will be measuring the stratigraphic layers of some Niobrara - Smoky Hill Chalk. It will most likely take most of the day, every day, but I should get some good hunting in at the end of each day (if I have it left in me).
When I do get to go hunt at the end of the day, we'll be looking for giant marine reptiles (like those on the
Oceans of Kansas website). I haven't actually found anything like that quite yet, but I have found fish, shark teeth, crinoids, and other cool fossils in that place.
It will be the longest single trip Sandi's gone on thus far. So, I'm hoping everything stays together and I get her back here 'all in one piece'.
I'll try to post some photos/videos from the trip here in this thread after I get back home.
Be sure to keep the forum alive while I'm away.
