Skyline Drive Part 2

Well, I've done the first part of Skyline drive up here in Bountiful and I'm looking to hit up the portion that starts off around the Spanish Fork/Hwy 6 area.

Anyone interested in coming along? I don't know of a date/time yet since I don't get my work schedule till the day before so it would be kind of a spur of moment type thing. Just checking interest right now.

Re: Skyline Drive Part 2

As soon as I get a Saturday off I am planning on an overnight camping/fishing trip along that trail....I would like to do a trip from Tucker(hwy-6) all the way down to I-70 via the Skyline...it would be a long trip...but it would be great to do a long mountain trail like this.

Wish I had some.

A member of the Wastach Cruisers (IH8Mud) gave me some directions and that's about it. It's going to be an adventure just trying to find it.

Re: Skyline Drive Part 2

Here is the basic map for the area: Skyline Drive (South) starts at Tucker and goes all the way down to I-70. I don't have the coordinates but this should give you an idea.

http://www.utah.com/art/maps/offroad/skylinemap.pdf

There are lots of trails/spurs to explore, and there are lots of roads to bail out on if you need to get back home or need to get some fuel.

I am going to see if I can get a Saturday off sometime in early to mid August and spend a weekend on the trail camping and fishing.

Re: Skyline Drive Part 2

I have been on the trail from Fairview all the way down to Mayfield. I love to fish Duck Fork reservoir because it's artificial fly and lure only. That seems to cut down on the people there.

I do know that they are doing work at the rest stop in Spanish Fork canyon and I believe that is where the Tucker turn off is. We might want to check with the forest service and see if that is still open.

Also, we had better keep a close eye on the weather. If that dirt up there sees on drop of rain it turns into the slimy clay mud that just might be the slipperiest stuff I have ever seen. One step in that stuff and you have 5 lbs of mud on your shoe. Just imagine what that does to your tires. It is seriously the nastiest stuff I have ever seen and it gets bad quick up there. Just a little warning.
