I need a new sport/hobby lol. Anyone here cyclocross? I love road biking but can get bored with it.....done mountain biking forever so I've worn that out too a bit. Maybe it's time for me to race.
Anyway...I'm curious to hear if anyone cyclocrosses and what you think of it?

I did it for a couple of years. It is a really intense workout. Most of the time I was wishing I had a third lung to dip into. I raced with a mountain bike, but they don't allow you to do that anymore.
Longest 45min of my life! It is a blast and one heck of a workout. It's been a few years since I crossed but I got into it when I lived in western SC-there is a good cross series in fall winter the western NC/SC. I had a Redline cross bike that I got from Excell Sports in Boulder CO-not super nice but it was a good medium level ride. Some guys also used Mt Bikes-I think it depends on the rule makers of the race but I would think that would be OK for most races but you'll want a rigid bike-front suspension is OK but it will get heavy on the running sections. 3rd is definatly needed as you'll be tasting your two pretty quick.
I have never done it but I always know when the season is about to start. Cause the cross riders will come in and remove some of the more entertaining obstacles from the mtb trails.
Had no clue what it was, had to do the google... That said, I would probably love it then die. (I wish I was in shape...) I guess I will stick to the gas powered vehicles.
1) Indy Fab Planet X Cross bike
2) On One Il Pomino Singlespeed cross bike
3) Van Dessel Country Road Bob (older style) fixed/singlespeed cross
I've been racing here in SF Bay Area this season but during the last race in Golden Gate Park, my calf "popped" during a run up over a barrier. I tried to run/ride it out but I was done, probably for the season. I'll know tomorrow after I get back on the bike.
our series here is pretty low key. Much nicer folks than the typical crit crowd. Racing is definitely a lung burner but it's cool that my races are 40 min or less. I can race on Sunday and still spend time w/ the family.
