Tucson, AZ snowboarding?

Hell does freeze over, and I snowboarded it . Yes even in Tucson you can go snowboarding, we received 20-26" of snow on top of our lovely Mt. Lemmon(we also received 3" in town, nothing like cactus w/ snow on it). The coolest thing about this is it's only 45 min from tucson to the ski area. Last Friday was a blast, was first in the parking lot @ 8:30 and when it opened @ 9:00 there were only 3 people in line for the lifts. Hit some awesome jumps, it was nice to finely go snowboarding after not going at all last year. Never even had to ride lift w/ another person , probably only 100 or so people all day. Will receive more snow this week(you know where I'll be on Friday!!!) A gem in the desert!!!! If in the tucson area Mnt. Lemmon is a nice place to beat the heat.

Re: Tucson, AZ snowboarding?

Sounds like you had fun. I am 1 1/2 hours away from Tucson, that sounds like a nice place to visit. I saw the snow there on the news, beats the heat!

Re: Tucson, AZ snowboarding?

Friday the 2nd was awesome, showed up @ the parking lot @ 8:50 hardly anyone there, and the ski runs were untouched!!!!! Pow pow (powder) everywhere, had a blast 30" base w/ 12" of powder. Awesome boarding on the most southern ski resort in United States!!!! And after being cold all day, a trip back down the mountain brings you to 70 degree weather (you can't beat that w/ a stick)!!!! I met a couple of guys from Washington, and they were even impressed (with the conditions) everyone in the parking lot was all over my vehicle (asking questions and giving compliments) very funny how much attention the FJC still gets. Keep on boarding TUCSON ROCKS

Re: Tucson, AZ snowboarding?

I regularly visit TV stations in Tucson. Most have a snowcat parked out back for when they need to access their transmitter site on Mt. Bigelow.

Nothing like seeing a snowcat parked next to a cactus when it's 120 degrees outside. Only in Tucson...
