Just wondering if there are any fellow mnt. boarders out there. Tucson is a great place (because we seldom have snow) for dirt boarding(and we have lots of dirt and mnt.s). I know of only one other person in Tucson who boards and he works w/ me We have some really hard rocky trails around here and they are complicated(more like dangerous)to say the least. I perfer doing dirt roads w/ a step descent, this reminds me most of snowboarding. I have a MBS board and it tears it up. If you don't know what mountain boarding is do a search on google and you shall see, they are like skateboarding mixed w/ snowboarding, mixed w/ a mountain bike. VERY HARDCORE
I have a mountain board that my wife got me for Xmas a couple years ago. (My kids think she's trying to collect on an insurance policy.) I'm 54 years old, and still do some skateboarding at local parks, but the MB is WAY more dangerous. I have used it on dirt roads, and in Moab on a paved road, to get me back from my main hiking area with less of a walk. (Saves me about 1/2 mile of walking) but I'm very conservative on it. (Like I said, the potential for serious injury is HIGH) But, anyway, just wanted you to know, yeah, I have one, and have used it a few times.

I never used a "real" MB. But one time camping, my buddy brought a skateboard with these big "Tonka" truck wheels on them, and maybe risers on the trucks. We built a downhill course through the campsite with a few shread turns and a jump. It was a blast.

My SO and I both have MBS boards. We do a lot of single-track over here (break not optional) with them. We started riding 2 years or so when we had a particularly lousy winter but were both in the mood for snowboarding. Now we are at the point where we can ride in both summer and winter!
As far as choice in terrain go's I am not a huge fan of fire roads as I invariably get bored out of my mind, end up doing something stupid and as a result get to visit the emergency room again. One of the biggest problems I have here in WA is finding stuff that is steep enough and unobstructed as well as being dry. Single track mountain bike trails normally work out doing the trip pretty well.
Since there is still loads of snow over here its going to be a while before the mountain boards get yanked out of the garage :-)
