Re: Video of Stolen Bike Recovery
I had a Merlin titanium mountain bike stolen one time with no leads whatsoever as to who might have done it. One day a couple of buddies of mine called and said they had driven by a guy and a girl pushing bikes along the roadside, and one of the bikes was my Merlin (it was a very distinctive bike back then). They stopped and told the people the bike was stolen and that the bike was staying put. They then called me to tell me about it and where they were. I called the police to tell them (I had reported it stolen when it happened) and then headed over to meet my buddies. I showed up and then the police showed up. The couple insisted that they had bought it from an ad in the paper. The detective who investigated the theft said their story didn't add up but he couldn't prove that they had anything to do with it. I got my bike back though.

Re: Video of Stolen Bike Recovery
I still tear up at the thought of my stolen Huffy (circa 1978). This video has gone a long way toward assuaging a bit of my grief.
