I am addicted! I must find them all! Look me up for that mining/aircrash site expedition. That sounds awesome. I might have to geocache myself and have people find me!

Just started geocaching, it's pretty fun. (thanks for the suggestion, James)
If you are into looking for crashed planes, and live in colorado, you'll want to check out:

Colorado & Wyoming Wreckchasing

It's a little like BIG geocaches...although the ones I've been to involved a bit more hiking.

Re: Geocachers! post up here===>

I have an idea. Those of you into Geocaching my be familiar with this term. What if I created some "Geocoins" that have a cool FJ Cruiser design/theme to them. Would there be any interest in something like that? For those not familiar with the term, a GeoCoin is a custom-minted coin that you would put into the Geocaches that you take something from.

I think it would be cool to have a nice 1.5" gold-finish or silver-finish (actually nickel or brass) coin to put back in that represents our passion for the FJ. Below is a sample of what the resulting coins look like... 3-D and cool. Imagine an FJ on there.

The cost would be around 60 cents up to $2.50 per coin depending on the quantity of the order and the dimension (true sculpted 3-D coins run in the $2.00 range while simple stamped coins run in the 60 cent range). I did some smaller coins for a packmate who wanted to use them as giveaway tokens for his retail business as a cool alternative to gift certificates.

I'd be willing to design them and foot the bill for the die-cutting costs ($99/side) if folks would be willing to buy some at the base cost ($0.60 - $2.50 ea)

Thoughts, comments, interest?

Howls,
FJ Wolf

That sounds very cool. How many coins do we need to order?

Oddly enough, the least expensive option overall is actually the coolest. A fully-sculpted 3-D coin 1.5" in diameter (silver-dollar size) has a minimum order of only 100 pieces.

So, here is the breakdown:

100 coins - Antique Brass: $220.00
100 coins - Nickel Plated: $245.00
100 coins - Antique Copper: $250.00
100 coins - Antique or Shiny Silver: $255.00
100 coins - Antique or Shiny Gold: $280.00

If we want them all to be sequentially numbered, add $35.00

I am probing for interest at this point. If I get enough interest, I'll gladly cover the die charges and throw the whole $500+ project on my credit card - just so long as I won't get stuck with 80 coins of my own.

Oh - sidenote, these even come with free plastic cases like the fancy ones on TV.

If there is enough interest, I will start working on a design, and solicit ideas and comments, then put a few up for a final vote, then off to the presses.

Howls,
FJ Wolf

Re: Geocachers! post up here===>

If:
They will be numbered and trackable as a Geocoin on the Geocaching - The Official Global GPS Cache Hunt Site website...

Then:
I'll start by purchasing 10 at $2.50 (+shipping, of course) when you have them.

Howz that? Okay, folks, get in line!
