So where is the line drawn on what animal is ok to kill? I mean everyone here would kill a rat/mouse if it got in your house. Maybe a racoon if it keept getting in your trash. A wolf or coyote if it got in your property. Call someone to kill a Mountain Lion if it was in your neighbor hood. I personally agree that video is wrong, but thats just a personal opinion. Bit its funny that the more cute the animal is the more wrong most people think it is to kill. If that had been a big ugly wild boar everyone wouldnt be so freaked out.
Im German eating rabbit is a big part of my culture , MOST people in the states freak out when I tell them I eat cute lil bunnies.
X2
So if it's an UGLY or scary animal, it's ok? At least these guys used fair chase, called in this guy from hundreds of yards away, using sounds to imitate another moose. And I can guarantee that they worked harder and were more challenged than someone pulling a trigger from a truck driving down the road.

I hate hunting as a sport
Hard to call hunting a sport when half involved don't know they are participating.

Re: This is why you don't shoot a moose in front of you
Bow hunting is a very difficult "sport" -- mainly because of how close you have to get to kill game effectively and how difficult it is to shoot a bow and arrow accurately. Killing deer at 50-100 yards from a tree stand or outlook w/a 30-06 is a breeze by comparison.
It's amazing that the archer in the video got as close to that bull as he did -- think he said 6 feet in the video. The bow shot was a perfect heart/lung shot, which is proven by the fact that the bull dropped only about 20-30 feet past the shooter. As some alredy said, nothing would have dropped the bull in its tracks except a head shot w/a high powered rifle.
Except for a few of us, we (me included) ALL eat meat and support the killing of animals for our clothing, nourishment and other uses. So, I'm not going to make any value judgments about the kill. The video did what it was intended to do. Give you a sense of what it's like to hunt with a bow and arrow, as well as a sense of the excitement and dangers associated with the "sport." I think it did that those things very well.

To me, the only way hunting would be fair is to put the both in a pit, gladiator style. fist vs. horns (or teeth or hooves). That be some stuff id pay to see.
A real Man vs. Wild!

Wow . . . and just think there's appears to be a whole TV channel dedicated to this type of stuff. There's more where this came from if this tasty sample didn't get you excited and stimulated enough.
Sorry . . . this was just sick. I too would have been more interested in seeing the hunter "tenderized" by the moose rack.
Simply my $.02

That's one dead tasty moose!
And the anti-hunters can keep on eating their tofu and steroid filled mad-cow grocery store beef. I'll take the real stuff thanks...
Here's a lovely moose video for you...right before the professor was killed by mommy moose, the animal loving college students were taunting cow and calf by throwing snowballs at them...
Re: This is why you don't shoot a moose in front of you
I have never met a hunter that kills for the sake of killing or for just the trophy. They all take the meat and eat it.
So.....are there lots of hunters that just kill for the trophy? Or is it just the imagination of the anti-everthings?

The hunt was not over. If you follow it right away it will run for a long time. If you leave it alone it will lay down and die. You should wait about 45 minutes before following it. I DON'T bow hunt but bleeding to death is a pretty good way to go.
Re: This is why you don't shoot a moose in front of you
By the way the responses are going I would think there must NOT be a lot of meat eaters on this thread. If you think that was cruel go to a slaughter house and see if they tickle cows, sheep and chickens to death. If it was not for hunting we would not be here now. Our ancestors were MEAT hunters and eaters.
