Yes, as much as Bill Wirtz tried to kill every good team they had and traded every good player, with his demise the team seems energetic with some skilled kids. I am once again a hockey head and can't wait for the playoffs, even though my team won't be there.

Watch out for the Hawks next year, though.
I've always liked the Hawks. I was pleased when Lapointe was traded from Boston. I feel he's been instrumental in leading the younger guys. They have been an extremely exciting team to watch this season and I too am looking forward to them having some big seasons in the very near future.

Re: Detroit Red Wings

Dragon, this is for you. I took this last month win the Wings were in Dallas (we lost 1-0). You gotta love his tenacity! I hear the fans boo him in Chicago every time he hits the ice, but I just have to believe they still love him as much as he loves them. He plays for Detroit but Chicago is in his heart.

Re: Detroit Red Wings

Seriously I still love the guy. He's my age and is playing hockey incredibly well, still. I think his restaurant in Chicago still does well.
I can't blame any player (will list them in a sec) for leaving during the Wirtz era.

Some of them are:

Ed Belfour
Dominick Hasek
Jeremy Roenick
Ethan Moreau
JP Dumont
Alexei Zhamnov
Keith Carney
Bernie Nichols
Evgeni Nabokov
Jeff Hackett
Chris Chelios
Steve Smith

...and on and on and on.

Still, I'm happy with the team we put on the ice now (with the exception of Khabibulin)

Yes, Chelly is tenacity incarnate

Re: Detroit Red Wings

I'd love to see a Wild / Hurricanes Cup playoff, but I'll make my pic now.

Ottawa over Detroit in 7 games.

Who would you pick between these two? I like Carolina, but I would be pulling for Minn only because they haven't won one, much less made the finals. That would be sweet.

Carolina because of their experience, but I also would love to see Minny win.

Watch out for the dark horse, the AVs. Coming on strong when it counts...

You gotta know I'm always aware of the Avs. With the re-addition of Foote & Forsberg, I'm paying more attention to them now then earlier in the season, even with Forsberg's health issues.

Re: Detroit Red Wings

How dare he desecrate this thread by mentioning the Avalanche...I hope the Wings meet them first round and continue the dominance they exerted over them during the regular season...
