A good sub-$500 full suspension mountain bike
Is there such a thing as a good sub-$500 full suspension mountain bike? Any recommendations?

Good luck with this one! I just got a hard tail Haro Flightline Sport ($430)from Sun & Ski Sports, with tax, helmet, and water bottle, it was a little over $500. It's been a great bike for the past couple of months, I've hit the trails hard and have had no problems.

A store around my parts has a DiamondBack XSL 07 for $350, but I am not sure about it. It is on clearance.

Re: A good sub-$500 full suspension mountain bike
I don't know much about the Diamondback Mountain bike, I'd start snooping around the Mountain Bike forums or maybe amazon.com, they seem to have a lot of reviews. What ever you do, opt to spend the extra money rather than going cheap. I almost made this mistake and I'm so glad I didn't. After blasting through trails and coming down 2' drop offs, I don't think the tiny welds and fake shocks would have held up. Just my $.02.
I've also hear that you only really need the full suspension if you're going to be doing some crazy extreme biking.

Re: A good sub-$500 full suspension mountain bike
it is impossible to get a 'good' NEW entry level full squish mtb for under $1500.
Look for used though.. a Stumpjumper FSR (like a 2003) might be had for that amount with some descent components.
However, for less than $500 you can get a great hardtail single speed, the Redline Monocog.

that's a negative Ghost Rider... depends on the amount of rear travel.
My full suspension mtb is strictly a cross country bike with 4" of travel.

Know anything about K2 bikes? They have some for around 800 to a grand. I just can't find any reviews since they are so new. What about Iron Horse.

How about Kona. I have seen start about 600 for full suspension.
