Re: P90x

I've read some good things about it but you have to be careful not to try and keep up if not in really good shape already. Also, anyone who wants to be "cut" must remember that diet is very important. Any video like this, if it helps motivate a person to exercise, is a good thing.

It's an at-home work out program (for 90 days) targeted towards the already fit population. From what I've read/researched, it's kind of an "old school" approach to fitness, emphasizing strength development w/exercises like pull ups (real heavy into pull ups/pull up adaptations), squats, lunges, etc.

It comes w/12 DVD's including strength training workouts targeting various muscle groups (all you need are dumb-bells and/or resistance bands and a pull up bar), yoga, cardio, plyometrics, and kickboxing.

My husband and I are already pretty fit and were looking for something to mix it up a little that we could do at home. We recently purchased it and are getting ready to begin and I was just wondering if anyone here had any experience w/it and had any feedback based on their experiences.

Re: P90x

I saw the infomercial and it looked like an interesting program, lots of variety, with a heavy dose of aerobic work. I had a couple of observations that may or may not be correct:
1) It looked like a large amount of open floor space would be required
2) Unless I missed it, they avoided saying how much time/day would be required

I hope it works out well and I hope you post more as you get going with it.

Mike

From the info we have, "large" open necessary is minimal (I am able to do Tae Bo & Yoga in our living room w/strategic coffee table relocation, so I'm assuming we'll be good).

The workouts ARE on the "longish" side, about 60-90 minutes.

I think I'm going to start a blog on my/our experience; if I do I'll post a link in this thread. I think we're planning to start late this week or early next week.

No experience with that but you might want to look into crossfit.com. Been using that for a lil while now with excellent results.

Re: P90x

like some one else said you have to be in decent shape for this to work or it will be VERY hard to keep the pace.
