Kayaking Stumpy Meadows

My wife and I are new to Kayaking, but we live very close to some really nice lakes. Last weekend (11/15) we took the logging trails from our house to the closest lake - Stumpy Meadows. It was classic - sheet glass all day and although the water is down a lot since it is late in the season, it made for a real nice paddle. It was so warm it was just trunks and a tee shirt.

We launched off the boat ramp and within 20 minutes found an otter cruising around off a big rock. He followed us for a hundred yards or so, curious little guy.
Later in the day, on the way back, we ran into some old friends on the north shore and stopped for a couple of beers. While we were talking we noticed what I thought sounded like an eagle call from across the lake. My buddy just said "yeah, right" figuring I was BS'ing. A couple minutes later we were witness to 2 golden eagles doing their airial mating dance over the lake.

What a great day..

Next we'll hit Loon Lake - weather permitting..
