As promised 40 pounds of weights on the rack, we will drive it for 2 weeks and than take it apart for photos. I got some really weird looks from the neighbors this morning
Personally, I think that a guy could add even more weight without ill effect.
In roughly 2 weeks, I will take it apart and take high resolution photos of each specific mounting point for the plastic. The results will be posted in our Vendor forum.
2 disclaimers:
1) As far as our little study goes, before placing the weights...there is a stressed appearing area in the plastic (I think on the hinge side) where a washer was too close to the edge of the door indent. This appeared because we tightened it too much.
2) Lawyer speak....blah blah "no matter what the results, the product will officially be sold to carry
light items". I would have to drive around for a long time to get an official rating or load it until it fails, I'm not planning to do that.
