Joel and I have agreed to proceed with making a prototype and fitting it to an FJ. Probably about the time that you get your rear door racks, we should have some pics of the proto-side rack for you to see.

Sounds sweet then I would be able to mount my power tank vertically sitting on the ledge and have the mounting plate attached to the plate.

This is a GREAT idea! There are so many thing that a side rack could become, that it is really something that will work excellent!

along with all kinds of tanks, maglights, recovery gear, etc....you could also use it as an amp rack! please make sure you make it nice and wide both ways, as that will leave it open to plenty experiments!
