Hey guys, im looking to get a webcam to record some of my off road stuff. I'd like to find one thats a usb connection, and that i can have outside the truck in various conditions like rain, below freezing possibly. Anyone have any experience?
ContourHD is another one, but get the GPS or + model and the Bluetooth module. If not you can't see where you aim to film..... With the module you can install an app on your iphone or Android to see in real time your camera output. Without it, it's aim and pray..... Google Contour vs GoPro review, couple of good ones, you will see the difference in image quality between the 2.

GoPro seems to be dominating that market at the moment. I don't own one but have used one skiing and downhill mountain biking and they work great.

Re: selecting web cam for off roading..need help
Been doing a little bit of searching in the forums, but unable to find what I'm looking for. Where do you guys install the gopro in the back of your FJ?
I'm thinking about a dash mount and one for the back of the FJ, but unsure of where to mount. Thanks in advance.

GoPro is a great set-up but I am not a fan of how it fish-eye's the picture. I opted for the Replay XD1080. It's a lipstick camera and is pretty incredible. Wide field of view, no real fish-eye look and has many settings. The only down side is that the mounts for it can really only be found on ebay and amazon but the mounts that came with the kit I got work well for my front bumper location. I plan to get some that I can mount it on the roll cage / tube doors and a suction cup mount. I will eventually get a second one so that I can face one forward and one rear. You can't see what you are recording but there are enough markings on the outside of the camera to know what you're shooting. I believe they make an adapter so that you can stream it live but that would mean removing the rear cap and I wouldn't want it exposed with the rear cap off.
Here is a video shot from the front bumper of my rig:
after looking around I like the idea of being able to play back without removing the SD card
When I buy it will most likely be securitysystems.com/CarCamera.htm
Seems simple and easy to use..
GoPro is great but may need outside mounting
