Re: Overhead map light install (lots of pics and details)
Hmm you should install green or red light filters, best for nighttime, because your eyes won't have to adjust when looking at the road. (same tech used as the military

Just wanted to say thanks for the help / instructions / two-generations of mounting brackets. We got the light installed just ahead of the Pomona Offroad vehicle show. Here's a photo to prove I finally did it :

I have one of these lights for sale. I bought it before I did my maplight/scanguage install and now I don't need it. I paid $25 for it. PM me if you want it.

Re: Overhead map light install (lots of pics and details)
I final got to this much need mod. Thanks for the great write up Swiss. I made my own bracket by cutting the side of a plastic box off looks like your new bracket. The bracket is showed below I installed it through the headliner then decided to remove the headliner to apply sound deader. I felt the GM fixture was to tall but liked the map light swivels so I trimmed ½” off it all the way around to lesson the amount it sticks off the headliner. It is great to have light up front. The dome light had a 211-2 lamp (12 watts at 12.8 volts) I toned it down a little with a 212-2 lamp (10 watts at 13.5 volts) so the light blends in with the existing domes. The fixture came from a 98 Yukon, the swivel spots will not operate when the center light is on and when the center light comes on it turns the swivels off if they were on. This is fine since the center light provides enough light when door switch is activated and swivel provide directional beams when you’re on the way. Do all of these fixtures have this feature? Thanks again for developing this mod Swiss.
