Pull over...put laptop on lap....surf...when your lap gets warm...shut off computer ...get back in drivers seat and drive. Its also a good idea to pull over when your on your phone or iPod (the life you save may be your own)
Its amazing that we could ever get out of the neighborhood without Google earth and GPS .

Bottom line. that setup is dangerous!!!
It's for four wheeling only. I don't carry a passenger, and if i did the laptop would be in the back seat with a bunji holding it down. I can find my way out of the neighborhood just fine without it. But when I'm in the middle of the desert in a wash. I want to know where the fug I am. This setup is dangerous? Not to me. Not the way I intend to use it.

These guys can be a little too critical sometimes.

Thank you ! I've now learned to not post ideas anymore. If it's good for me then so be it. I'd love to see your coffee cup holder. I won't rip on it or assume you are going to spill hot coffee on your lap and burn yourself and kill other drivers! ROFL! I've seen plenty of good and bad ideas posted on this forum. I've never ripped any, I go off the old saying, "if you don't have anything good to say, don't say it. Some of the people in this community or very quick to assume and judge without knowing any information, they just speculate and ice that with their own personal opinions. Fugem! I say post your coffee holder. And as for any of the Bostonian groupies, I've apologized to him for being snappy. Bostonian please call off the dogs.

Re: Home Grown Laptop Mount

Frogeye, just for the record I wasn't ripping on your mount or your ideas at all, I was just offering an alternative I use in a company vehicle. I love creative options, yours is one.

I'm sorry you took my comment and others as totally negtive...I went back through this post and what I see are people looking out for your safety and the safety of other people, not ripping, but that's my opinion. I personally was suggesting if you wanted to see the GPS as you drive, this will not work, as another said as well, so I thought I would suggest ANOTHER option...something you can put right infront of you.

I do understand the cost issue as well, so trying to create is sometimes alot cheaper...I commend you for that and for sharing your idea...I say keep em coming and roll with the punches...it's only a matter of time before I come up with something others will "comment" on and I feel ripped on too...but I'm ready for it I guess.

An idea, where your bracket makes the 90, is there a piviot of some type that could be added? In order to fold the legs up when you need to.
I think this idea has some merit.

Thanks for that link Noisycow, ordered one for the FJ to use until Air2air comes out with his design, at which point I'll remove the e-bay unit & install it into the wifes FJ62
