Re: Air2air's FJ computer mount - step by step

Very professional and well executed project.
Being able to design somthing from scratch and bring it to life as a real usable finished product like this is admirable.
I dont understand the need for a passenger to have access to a laptop but you must...and it looks great.
Very nice , and very skilled.

Max9 thank you for the kind words.

Here's why I'm a laptop fan: Delorme TopoNav

It's about $200 with the USB GPS. Plus Google earth, email, make your hotel reservations from the trail etc etc.

It will most definitely NOT help you win FJ of the month, however.

Re: Air2air's FJ computer mount - step by step

Well, originally I had no intention to produce these; just wanted to share how to make your own with the forum.

However one of the vendors and I are talking about a small (< 25 ) production run. I will simplify and refine the design to be lighter, simpler and more attractive. Powder coat in matching colors.

Laptops do not come with mounting kits like Tablets do, however. So a clip arrangement will be devised to hold the laptop on there.

Don't think this should take too long to put together. Thanks you guys!

Now that's what I'm talking about. That is how you do it. Attention to detail, design skills for days, and execution beyond belief. Rock Star.

Air2Air -

I may have missed it, but do you have broadband wireless?

You are probably a little too practical for this, however I connect to my many TV channels at home via a Slingbox Pro. Your passenger could watch TV over headphones, etc.

It is really a marvel of technology for under $260.00. You can also monitor security cameras, etc (up to 4 sources, inc HD) from your FJ.

When UFC 66 was on, my friend was floored that I was driving along, watching it live while bars were charging $20 cover charge to see it.

you are a sick man Air2Air. You have alot of talent that, Im sure all of us can agree, ENVY. I definitely envy the set up. Very impressive. Im assuming it very easy to remove for daily driving? Id hate myself if it was stolen by some prick. Great job!
