Fantastic, good work!

At one time, I was working on something similar for my other car, but the radioshack here only had the female, not the male. I'll have to re-visit this now and see if they've got them...
Thanks, Julian.

Yep, my RS carries both connectors. If you can't find them at your end, let me know and I'll get one to ya.

Nice install (particularly the remote mic connector).
Thanks, Joe.

There's just not a lot of places to mount a full-sized radio
Nope, short of occupying the driver and passenger legroom area, there's not a lot of "perfect" locations. However, I'm in the process of working up an armrest center console in which a full-size CB can be mounted inside in a more forward position.

Any idea how deep the area is where the FJammer is mounted?

If it can handle the depth of my Uniden, I may mount the CB underneath a replacement stereo later (as the replacement stereo will be about half the height of the FJammer, surely).

Check with Shadow-Warrior (Mike). He's got a full-size CB mounted in there below a single DIN after-market radio.

Now that you mention it, I think he may have posted something about it (vaguely remember someone mounting a CB like that, but didn't know it was him).

I'll try a search, thanks...

Re: Uniden CB Install - Pics

Since the remote microphone connector protruded the mike cable into the passenger leg area, I decided to move it again. This time to the underside of the center dash panel.

And, I finally got around to buying a FireStik 2-foot antenna. Now I can slip the FJ into the garage, plus the wind noise has been reduced substantially.

Re: Uniden CB Install - Pics

That remote mic jack is just plain Cool, I would have never even thought of something like that. My dad's '78 Cad. Eldo. had a factory cb indash with the same kind of thing, haven't thought about that car in quite awhile. That's just a COOL mod for the FJ. Great job. I've been twisted up for months trying to find a place for my unit, older side bander, kind of big & clunkly but I like it. I'm building an overhead console to hold a mobil scanner & the side bander & may use your idea for the mic., to keep the cord out of the way. Hope it works out.....I love this forum

Thanks, Max.

Yeah, I saw your thread about powering all of your overhead units. I'll let one of official electrical gurus chime in on that. But, from what I gather, you shouldn't need all that much power going up there for what you've got planned.

Let me know how that turns out.

Re: Uniden CB Install - Pics

Steve,
I just wanted to say thanks thus far for all the great info(such as the mic extender ect ...). I did have a question I was hoping to have you answer if you wouldnt mind. I get how you run your cable through the rear door grommet, and into the rear quarter panel(where the factory jack is I'm assuming) and how you snaked it through .....

However, there is where I get lost.

Quote:
along the underside of the factory floor mat under the driver's seat to the console.
What exactly does that mean? Or am I over complicating things? Did you just literally run it under your rubber floor mats, or did you run it under the plastic flooring?

Just curious. Of course, because I'm a ninkimpoop(sp?), if you have any photos or another way of explaining it, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!
