Re: sound deadener install

Hmm.... must be the internet filters at work. I can see them perfectly fine at home.

Also on a side note did you dampen the plastic panels also?

Re: sound deadener install

Nice work Trainman

As you know I did the same as well

I can appreciate the amount of work you put into this project

I went through the same thing and it is alot of work and does take a certain amount of skill to get it all back in the way it came out

Great Job !!!

cool, and yes , go to the 3rd link in my signature. This is the most current work done to it, and I am considering it done until I can afford a couple of new batteries and ( one up front, one in back ) a new set of subs. I wanna upgrade to 2- 15" subs, and a 3000 watt sundown amp. But for now, I am very impressed with it, and so is everyone that has heard it so far...

Re: sound deadener install

I just started dampening my car and geez....my fingers are sore! You mentioned that you did 2 layers on the door... I'm assuming its 2 layers on the back side of the door skin and 2 layers over the metal portions that the door panel attaches too?

I need to go back and read it, but basically I did a layer on the outer skin, the inner skin, and later on I went back and deadened the door panel it self with a layer of mat and then a layer of luxury liner..

outer skin. not the best shot, but you get the idea...

inner skin...

and the actual door panel

both of the doors were done this way, although I only took a pic of one for reference

see the second and third links in my sig below to see where I made many more improvements.

I basically did 2 layers on the outer skin. Did you notice a big difference when you matted the door panel it self?

Also did the luxury liner make a huge difference in the doors also?

Nice job, do you have the names/links to your sources you used for all your sound proofing?

Re: sound deadener install

yep. secondskinaudio.com

And actually the luxury liner does more to block out actual sound than the mat does. What the mat does is block out the metals ability to vibrate, creating rattles, and when it vibrates it also resonates. The mat will make it quieter by itself, and the luxury liner will make it quieter by itself, but the two together, big , HUGE difference from the noise on the highway and trucks passing by. very faint. I probably did a bit of a overkill job on my door panels , and you probably could just attach a sheet to the inner skin, cut to fit.

Re: sound deadener install

I just recieved my 10 sheets of Luxury Liner Pro...this stuff is HEAVY!!! Ant reccomended that a sheet be glued to the inner door skin. I don't know how thats possible since the sheet is so thick and rigid. =(
