If this is the one sold at Walmart then please check that it doesn't contain lead. The one I saw had a warning sign. It might not be a problem for you but I thought I would bring this to your attention in case it does.
dont wast your money on the 19 if you want to go that way buy a Uniden pro520xl its the same size as the cobra but the guts are built better. Uniden | A World Without Wires - PRO520XL
Thanks for the replies. Sorry for posting without doing a proper search. I was in a hurry because of an eBay auction closing but I'm glad I waited. Good info.

+1 for Uniden. Cobras are good, but I have a Uniden and have been very very happy with it. If you go to their site, they sell a lot of their products as "like new" products which most of the time are just brand new radios with trashed boxes, but nothing is missing and the radios work perfectly. Sometimes they're refurbs but they still work nicely. And you get a considerable savings.
Yup +1 for Uniden's here too! I like the larger units...i don't know why...probably becaue they remind me of the old days. I run a rather large Uniden PC78XL.
If you can go for a Bandi mount...makes for a very clean install.

I just bought a Uniden 78XL, from Clay's Radio Shop in Texas (www.claysradioshop.com). Primary reason for doing so was A) Uniden makes a damn fine radio, and 2) Built-in SWR meter (for when I want to use different antennas).
Clay's modded the radio by tuning it up (as in wattage, roger-beep, and noise-filtering), plus had a special on Astatic noise-cancelling mics. Snagged a 2' Firestik to go with it, and plan on swapping my existing 3' when off-roading and traveling. 3' Firestik reportedly hits too many low ceilings (like parking garages, drive thru's, etc.).
