Added bonus: It covers that one spot that the sun always seems to peek through.
Hmmm . . . . I didn't even think about that.

Re: GPS: Overhead / Rear-View Mirror Installation Mod

Hey Steve,
Nice install, I am getting a Garmin unit for Christmas and had been thinking about mounting mine in the same place. My only concern is that it seems to be a reach to input an address or navigate through the functions. Do you find this to be a problem?

Since the face of the GPS unit will be sitting about 2 inches closer to you than the rear-view mirror, it will be a bit easier than reaching up to adjust that. But then again, with my 37" sleeve length (and scrapes on my knuckles from dragging them on the ground), I might have a slight advantage.

Re: GPS: Overhead / Rear-View Mirror Installation Mod

Nice mounting idea.

I think I'm gonna stay with the sandbag mount that comes with my Garmin 2720, for now though. I set the sandbag over in the corner (over the top of the speaker) and it's visible and easily within eyeshot while driving.

However, it would be nice to have a more permanent pre-wired location. I'll wait for your pics showing the routing of the power wire before I tackle that job though

Good post...
