well, I have been pounding this set up for quite a while now. It sounds absolutely amazing. Everyone who hears, ( those that know and don't know anything about car audio ) are blown away. The imprint can hinder bass just a little bit , versus when the imprint is off.... But the imprint makes the bass sound so much more controlled and tonally accurate. The IASCA test CD is just mind blowing.... I really wish camcorders could capture sound better. It is very nice.
I just hate how the ipod tends to show off just how poor quality its sound quality is. Compared to a CD, the sound quality is several degrees lower....lower volume, mostly. It is annoying to me, but most people dont notice it until I play a CD....
Other than that, any changes would be solely to upgrade subs and amps for the sake of expendable cash, not for necessity....This system is amazing.
i find the ipod to be a little less dynamic than cd's. they are more likely to break up with the notes or vocals get technical. however, i use my ipod 99% of the time with my alpine. i buy all of my music from itunes or it comes from store bought cd's. music from other sources is of lesser quality.

Yep. Take for instance, The Green Day CD , " Bullet in a Bible" ...it is a live concert CD recorded in England. the sound engineer did a Amazing job with this recording. It is very clean and well done. I have it in my ipod as well, and when I play the same song from that CD on the ipod, the volume wont get any where near as loud as it does with the CD. However, the convenience of having the ipod and all of the music it can hold on tap with out filling my truck with CD cases makes it well worth it. I will take a littel less volume on most of my music over having to risk damaging my CD collection with music stashed all over the truck.

Fantastic job man. I think I have slightly more deadner than you, but your system looks FAR cleaner than mine in the back, great job! One thing I will say, man that deadner cuts down on MPG, 250-300lbs of that stuff REALLY takes a toll + subs and amps..yeah... they really need to get to work on some super-thin space magical deadner material :P
Re: did some system upgrades over the past few days
I was reading your post and what a great job man. Congratulations. I have a quick question... did you paint your sub box or is it like a material you used to cover it??
Re: did some system upgrades over the past few days
I spray it first with regular black spray paint... then I used a texture paint from home depot over the black base. the black base coat just saves some coverage with the texture coat... that stuff is about 9 bucks a can...
