Re: New CB Antena Mount !!!

Bandi,

Good to see you back in the saddle again! I think the passenger side mount looks a little out of place, but I also don't think there is a better place for it to be mounted either, so good work!

now we can get dual phase!

Does anyone know if the height difference will cause any issues?

I am a CB dummy.

Thank You !!...

The idea for this for the bandi mount II was
designed for ease of mounting (as the first
one was - just bolt on), and for the use of
two different type antenna setups, as in
maybe HAM and CB, or even as a flag mount...

As far as dual antenna, and mounted so that
they are at the same height, can be done by
using this same mount, but you will need to
drill two holes in the side of the door jam for
for it to be mounted to, which is great cause
you do not have to drill a hole in outside face
of the door, and it could always be removed
and two plastic push plugs put in... but there
may be an issue with the separation distance,
I am no CB guru either, but I thought it had
to be 60" ?...

The only other option for a non-drilling location
would be at the lower striker on the door, but
it really did not line up right there... IMO...

I like the location as I have it now, it sits well
being lined up at the bottom of the pass. side
light, and if you look at the FJ, it really is not
symmetrical to begin with (ie: spare, lic. plate,
windw hump, etc...)...

Thank you so much, AP did a great job at
replicating it, and so it would be cost effective...

Glad you like it !...

Re: New CB Antena Mount !!!

I'm mounting a CB on the Passenger side mount, my HAM antenna is already on the drivers mount. I'm not worried about height difference but who knows they might come out even height depending on how I tune the CB whip.

Re: New CB Antena Mount !!!

I installed my single Bandi this afternoon but it seems to move a bit. I noticed the original pics you posted didn't use any washers, the one I received (WalCott CB, BigBill package) came with a std washer and a lock washer.

Would you recommend that I use them and if so what order? Lock on the outside with the nut and the std on the inside next to the mount?

Thanks.

The mount should go right up against the hinge,
and the lock washer and nut on the other side...

On the ones I produced, I used a 1/4-20 SS Nylock
nut with no washer or locknut... These can be
picked up at Lowes/Homedepot/Hardware store...

HERE is a link to the original Bandi Mount Instructions

Re: New CB Antena Mount !!!

I noticed that some have used the Coax "EZ-INSTALL" MU8R18 while the BigBill combo from Walcott comes with the KR48R18.

What are the differences and is one better than the other?

Thanks

Re: New CB Antena Mount !!!

So how does the cable get routed with the new mount on the passenger side?

See below and/or Click HERE, but the MU8R18 allows the
large coupling that attaches to the CB to be removed, so
you can run the cable thru a hole that is only 7/16" dia.,
instead of 3/4" or so with the KR48R18... very nice when
trying to fit thru tight areas, but the choice is still yours...

MU8R18 2-Piece 18ft "EZ-Install" Single Coax w. Firering Connector
Now you can take advantage of the benefits of our exclusive FireRing connector and have the ease and convenience of being able to route your coax to the radio without the need for holes or passages that could be as large as one-inch. This cable is routed from the mount to the radio and the female mini-UHF connector will pass through a hole that is only 7/16" (11mm)in diameter. After reaching the radio, completion is as simple as screwing on the supplied mini-UHF/PL-259 adapter and then screwing the PL to the radios antenna connection. No coax to process ... no soldering joints to complete and no tools needed. 18 Feet in length.

For those of you who know Firestik, you know the we would never compromise the quality of the coaxial cable for the conveniences found within this unique assembly. While we are best known for our hi-performance antennas, the antennas can not be expected to perform to their maximum potential if the coaxial cable is unable to deliver what the radio has to offer. As with all of our cable assemblies, we are as picky with what lies between the connectors as we are with the connectors themselves.

The passenger side mount was a one time special
order type deal for KD', and after he received it,
he also got his new bumpers, and ran the second
antenna mounted to the bumper... As far as the
cable routing, he was going to use a thin type
cablem and it would run directly under the mount
and into the door panel, then accross to the
drivers side and so on... You can check in with
KD7NAC_07FJ to see what he was going to use...
