Re: 12-Circuit "Switched" Fuse Block (Installation w/ pics)

Steve, thanks for the idea and great write-up. I finished mine yesterday, and it works great! I'm really pleased with it. My version is a hybrid between yours and Shadow Warrior's. I used the six-slot Blue Sea fuse block, activated with a single relay and with a circuit breaker. I ended up using 10-gauge wire from the battery through the circuit breaker and relay then to the fuse block because I couldn't find 8-gauge locally. I didn't want to wait for mail order and the current load for 10-gauge is way in excess of anything hooked in to my aux. block. Everything is in flex conduit and it looks great too; no one would even know it's there except for the circuit breaker and relay mounted on the engine compartment inner wall.

Good!! Glad I could help.

Now you can hook up a small guitar amp in your FJ and start cranking out some tunes on that Gretsch!!

I'd be embarrassed to say how little I've played it since I first got it, but it does sound good through the Blues DeVille amp. #3 son plays it a bit too.

Re: 12-Circuit "Switched" Fuse Block (Installation w/ pics)

Many have asked how to add a lighting circuit (i.e., off-road lights, driving lights, etc.) to this separate fuse block.

An additional set of relays and fuses will be required for each set of lights that are added.

The actual power for the lights themselves is obtained directly from the FJ's battery via its own (15-25amp) fuse and its own relay. The Blue Sea fuse block only acts to provide power to the light's on/off switch.

And, since the Blue Sea fuse block (in the below configuration) turns off automatically upon turning off your FJ, that will turn off your off-road lights as well . . . . thus not leaving you with a dead battery.
