I'm damn glad I found this thread about the horn today. I would have felt like a fool going to the dealer asking for the horn to be replaced only to find out they all sound like a ruptured duck.
One of our local idiots pulled out in front of me so I ended up hammering the horn. I almost died of embarrassment when that POS fired up. I've heard farts that would have done a better job.
WTF was Toyota thinking...or am I assuming too much here? It's not like we're dealing with ground breaking technology that still needs to be tweaked. Didn't Model A's have horns? I would think that horn technology would be rather mature by now.
Thanks to this thread, I ran down to Advance Auto Parts...got my FIAMM 72112...and had it installed in less than 10 minutes. There is a noticeable improvement now!
It does make me wonder though, if Toyota was willing to cheap out on a horn, what the Hell else have they cut corners on?
