Use PIAA 85112 horns to replace the OEM Toyota POS - they're much louder (115db) and sound better too...$40 a set...
Ordered the PIAA.

Thanks.

Re: Optional OEM Horn plug for FJ found it today

I talked to a shop who is customizing FJ's for a local dealer and while pulling the inner panels off he has discovered tons of unused wire connector ends. Call it advanced planning on Toyota's part!?????

Yes sir, 86510-60240 is the Optional high-pitched horn. The standard horn is behind the grill.
Put the high pitch horn on today, took all of 2 minutes.Sorry no pics, wife has camera. Use a 6 mm hex screw ( not included with horn) to attach to the body. Sounds like it should, like a real truck. Music to my ears. Maybe my next horn will be "La Cucaracha"!

Where did you get it and is it just ''plug & play''?

I went to the local Toyota Dealer, told him a ball park figure of what I could get it for online (Sorry online vendors, I'll keep using you guys for other things), he got me close in price. Ordered it yesterday, came in today. Just like the first post in this thread states, or look at the pics from one of the other guys, literally cut away the cover (black plastic), clipped the gray tape holding the wire in place. There is a threaded hole on the right fender well, use a 6mm hex screw, I filed the inside of the bracket to make sure I had a good ground, and plug the plug in. It doesn't sound like half a horn anymore. Now, this also doesn't sound like a mega-aftermarket horn. Just sounds stock, like it should.

Re: Optional OEM Horn plug for FJ found it today

Here's what I did, took less than 15 min. I took one of the 2 horns out of my T-100. Found the wire on the passenger side front wheel well of my FJ. Bolted the t-100 horn using the long bolt that holds part of the air intake tube. It appears to be a good ground. Plugged in the horn and now it is twice the horn it used to be. My parts guy could get me the 86510 horn for 43 bucks plus tax. If any body wants a picture I'll have to wait til my boy genius gets home from Waterworld.

My horn just turned red. Why did my horn turn red? Is your horn red?

Re: Optional OEM Horn plug for FJ found it today

Picked up this guy today at the local toyo dealership (86510-60240). The nice lady behind the counter gave me 10% off while telling me that she was happy to get rid of it because it was discontinued.

Haven't done the install yet, maybe tonight...
