Re: Optional OEM Horn plug for FJ found it today

LOL! She must have been smoking crack... can't think of why else would she tell you that the FJ Cruiser (4Runner/GX470/Land Cruiser/LX470) horn is discontinued and then charge you $52?

Re: Optional OEM Horn plug for FJ found it today

Dude, no idea. Maybe the optional high-pitched horn isn't selling well? For the 52 I paid, it would have been close to online prices when you toss shipping into the mix.

Maybe she was out of her mind...the paint price made up for any slight loss I may have taken purhasing the retail horn...

Going to to look under the hood now....

What I was hinting at is that it being used on production vehicles... it's not even within a decade of obsolesence.

High pitched: 86510-60240, Low pitched: 86520-60200.

Either one is $40.33

Horns are the same for a 4th Gen 4Runner/GX470 or 100 Series LC/LX470 if you are a junkyard hunter...
Thanks Chris (Valkyrie)! (and thanks to Sbechtold for the pics)

Got my horn in the mail about 3:00 this afternoon.... went down to the parking garage, located the plug and installed the horn in about 5 minutes.

LOUD! (of course I was in a concrete parking garage). Think I made a few people jump when I hit the "panic" button on the keyfob.

I've said it before... but great forum and great FJ!

Re: Optional OEM Horn plug for FJ found it today

Just did the install. That was about the easiest thing I ever did. TRDSource.com includes a bolt and washer (an official Toyota one, I might add), so nothing extra to get. The connector was just covered by a black plastic cover, so I didn't have to remove any electrical tape. The connector was placed just at the right spot so when the horn is bolted on the side, the connector fits right in. Top quality engineering. And, the horn worked first time.

You got a WASHER? All I got was a lousy bolt. (big grin)
