I'm not a fan of radar detectors but that's a pretty clean install. Beware though that the tint strip at the top of windshields can cut down the range of the radar detector drastically.

That's not an issue in the FJ or at least not mine. As an example I just got back from a road trip and on a flat straight-a-way I picked up a Ka gun from over a mile away.
Normally the stock tinting is coloring in the glass and that doesn't cause an issue. I can't speak for aftermarket tint film as I never use them but I can see how those could be an issue.
any updates? can you give me a layout of the mount, i have the same detector as well and what fuse location did you hard wire it? i also sent you a PM
As for the final version of the mount......
I actually kept the one I started with. However over time I did notice that it got flexy. To resolve this issue I created a second identical mount minus the part that goes into the radar detector and used JB Weld to glue them together. The mount is very stiff now. Still looks the same.
I have a similar set up but I used the visor mount of my V1, bent in open slightly to have a tight friction hold between the head-liner and roof and added a support to reduce the bouncy. Yours looks much better.

That looks great I'm going to have to give that a try. Was it really bouncy without the support?
