Re: Custom Radar Dector Mount

Both of those mods are great mounts. Well done!!! If and when I get a detector I would I mount it like that.

The creativity of this forum's members keeps me coming back! What's next?

Re: Custom Radar Dector Mount

Looks good but I'd like to put one on top of the dash gauge pack, and hard wire it in.

Thats were I mounted my Escort Passport. I used the direct wire smart cord https://www.escortradar.com/store/di...tcord-red.html and mounted the remote part on top of the steering wheel. The placement of both has worked out great.
EDIT: Added better pictures.

Re: Custom Radar Dector Mount

I have discussed detectors with a few traffic cops and a buddy in a Florida State Trooper unit. All of them told me that if they make a stop and see a detector there will be an automatic ticket.....no warnings. Find away to conceal and you'll be much safer.

That is the reason why mine is held in place with velcro . If I get pulled over I can take it off fast and hide it. The good news is I have not been pulled over since owning it.

Well that's the idea of the detector, to avoid stops

The same companies that make the police units make the detectors for the most part. It's a cat and mouse game. If one thinks they are immune from detection with a detector and hauls ass all over the place, sooner or later you're gonna get popped. They are not a replacement for common sense. Just like airplanes, super karts or motorcycles.....right when you start getting ****y, it's gonna bite you in the ass bigtime.

Never said it was a replacement for common sense but the fact still remains is the idea of a radar detector is to detect radar, hence possibly avoiding a ticket. If someone is stupid enough to think they can haul ass all the time because they have a radar detector then they are fooling themself.

x2.

I find it funny that most people think you drive 100 mph all the time just because you have a radar detector. That is not the case for me. It's an FJ not a sports car.
