I've been stopped and left my radar detector in the open and didn't get a ticket a few times. I rarely speed anyhow. I just like to know when The Man is near by. You can never be too careful!
I have a similar set up but I used the visor mount of my V1, bent in open slightly to have a tight friction hold between the head-liner and roof and added a support to reduce the bouncy. Yours looks much better.
LoadToad, I sent you a PM in regards to making this, and how you hardwired it (being as there is no power in the rearview mirror). You've made exactly what I've pictured in my head, hopefully I re-create what you've done.
