Lastly, there is complete system (monitor, camera, wiring) by Toyota on TRDSPARKS web site for $429 complete with install instructions! I would have gone with this system but I bought a NUVI 5000 has a video input on it.
I purchased and installed this kit. It's made by Rostra and is high quality. It is hardwired and the pic quality is excellent both during the day and at night with the stock backup lights.

Re: backup camera

I'm using a hard wired bullet style camera mounted in the rear bumper, in line with parking sensors. It's an Omega AU camera that I got from Sonic electronix for $85. It's a ccd style camera which has much better picture quality than a CMOS style, wide 135 degree viewing angle, it's color for both day and night and actually has good night vision. it comes with a couple different ways to mount it and the angle can be adjusted slightly. plugs in to monitor with standard rca video plug. Though, power/ground wires are small gauge and too short in length.
