Finally installed my Air dam and all under $300

Well guys. I finally decided and bought my air dam by separate parts instead of "as a complete set".

I'd like to thank Garrett for his help on the install.

Air dam plastic, light bar, brackets and hardware $227
Hella 500FF $64
misc $8

Some pictures ....

In daytona the day after Garrett helped me with the install...

This morning...

very pleased with them. I love how they look.

Re: Finally installed my Air dam and all under $300

If he did the full kit (just sourced the parts individually as the op implies) I'd say he had to drill the hole in the roof above the driver's head. But lets hear that from the horses mouth...

I did a no drill install on my Gobi rack. Running wires thru the A arm pillars and into the cracks just above the windshield. PITA but....
Gobi sent "how to", not sure if it will work for your application but worth a look.

Re: Finally installed my Air dam and all under $300

Garrett did make a small hole in the base of the rack. It is completely water tight. reference the pictures so you have a better idea. Also, all the cable connections were made water tight.

Garrett had this spare rubber grommet in his garage. Note the hole we did on the rack.

here is the hole we did in the base of the roof rack.

Cables going through...

The other way to do it is by the A pillar. see the video in the link attached. Not Your Mother’s Headlights | Adventure Road Trip

Re: Finally installed my Air dam and all under $300

The above pictures show the way I did mine as well. One addition though. I put a fairly tall rubber grommet in the roof hole so that there would be little to no water intrusion. Idea being that water would have to well up under the rack foot to at least 3/16 inch to get down the hole.

Go one furthur and seal it all with sealant. Ask DominicG.

Sorry, forgot to mention that step. Thanks.

I don't trust sealant very much, that's why I did the grommets in the roof (I have wires going down both sides). Well seated grommets do NOT leak.
