Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

Hey y'all,

I saw one of these set-ups last week at the FLCA ride, and was impressed enough that I ordered the parts and installed my new CB this afternoon. This thread was a big help in pulling the cable thru the cab. I didn't need any tools to run it through the cab, though I did use the shaft of a 4-way screwdriver to push the power cable into the engine compt. In the near future, I'll branch off this power line to put a new plug above the dash for my GPS.

On the back door, I used "Goop" to secure the cable till it goes into the grommet.

Pretty much everything else I did has been covered in this thread, except for one small hang-up: The Bandi Mount touched my tail-light guard with the rear door open half-way. So, I just took the guards off. I wasn't satisfied with them anyway. If they were to snag onto a bush, they would have ripped the whole light off because they're only tucked in under the plastic. Somebody was right when they called them "damage multipliers". I guess I'll put'em on Ebay unless somebody reading this wants them.

Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

I just got done installing my cobra 75wxst with the wiring for the remote plug in the dash nice addition looks clean. Plugged in the mic and flipped the switch and nothing. all my fuses were good and grounds direct to the battery so there I sat checking everything when I figured out it comes and to the work bench it goes to check the wiring. After checking the remote box to get the pin and color code for the connectors went one by one down the line and low and behold the connector that the cb shop walcott cb installed was wired completely wrong only one wire out of 5 was on the correct pin on the mic connector. So after resottering the wires into the correct location it was time to check it and hope that what they had done hadn't hurt the cb.
reinstalled the cb and plugged in the mic and switched it on and low and behold the dam thing works. Talk about a head scratcher.

Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

Anyone tried the Midland: Midland 75822 - Handheld CB Radio with Vehicle Adapter?

Thanks in advance. I like the idea of being able to take it out with the battery pack.

Do you have a picture of where you put the remote in the dash?

Just bought one for the Mojave Trail trip next weekend. I also bought an external magnetic mount antenna. I'll fill ya in on the performance and what I liked, disliked, worked, didn't work but was supposed to, or what I wished it had/didn't have when I get back from the trip next week! I got the unit at Walmart for $89, and the antenna from Radio Shack for $30.

Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

You might want to upgrade to a external speaker I just did and what a difference you can actually hear it without it being turned up to the highest it will go on the hand set. And the location that I put it in is very easy to get to and there is no trouble hearing it. I bought a workman 719 sun visor speaker its just the right size.

What a clean install. Trying to get my Cobra installed for the Mojave run this weekend. See you there FJDave. I've been trying to find the thread on how to remove the center console but no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

Felonious, I was thinking of using a switch blank too... nice job! Wonder if we could find a rubber plug that goes over the connector when it's disconnected?
