Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

I haven't seen any covers big enough to cover it but I like the idea now the hunt begins.

Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

i was thinking of using the little spot right next to my rear cup holder for the plug i dont put anything there and it keeps the mic handy (its a square space half inch deep)

Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

Good idea but the problem is if a drink spills there you are in deep s**t because it will flood out the socket then drip down into the control box.

that cup holder is my change holder! i have a camel back on the drivers seat no spills plus there is a cap for my handset plug to cover the port from drips or spills

Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

the tricky part will be mounting the receiver box because the cable is not very long so you would have to mount it close to the little recessed spot in the console.

Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

Its not a clearance issue there its just that under the pocket there the cable wont reach down to the truck floor to mount the unit. As for the cable if you need help sottering on the cable end its no problem if you come to the CB shop I'm not that much further if you need help on install also have a swr meter to be able to tune it.

Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

I just wanted to add a note here to make sure people do not over tighten the fire ring portion of the bandi mount. If you over tighten the bolt you can and probably will damage the ring. I did this and spent several hours on it before I figured out what was going on and I spoke to another guy today at a local meet that did exactly the same thing. Basically there is a solder join in the ring that breaks when you over tighten the main bolt. It twists it in such a way that will make you crazy trying to figure out your horrible SWR readings.

I know several people have mentioned that they "really had to crank down on it", but I just wanted to let people know that they shouldn't tighten down excessively unless they have to. If you properly remove the paint and get good metal to metal contact, normal torque on the mount should be fine.

Hope this helps others from repeating my mistakes.

well here is the final pictures of the antenna and mount with the tail light guards.

How did you mod the bandi mount to fit?

Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

Felonious, is it possible to do your install and to also put a jumper jack to jumper from the WX75 to the AUX jack and use the radio speaker?

I am going to do what you did, but add a jack above or below the handset plug so I can make the aux speaker jump to the AUX plug when desired.

Based upon your experience, do you think this will work? I think I read that someone had tested the connection and found the EXT speaker will feed the AUX feature of the radio.

Thanks!

M
