Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

Quick question... Do you need to scratch off paint on the Bandi mount for a good ground?

Thanks in advance

Yes, you'll need to have it down to bare metal on the underside to get a good ground.

Alright. Whats the best way to remove the paint? A flat head screw driver?

Thanks

That would work OK. I found a small used chisel that still had a somewhat sharp edge that allowed me to carefully shave off some paint. Doesn't need much, maybe 1/4" around the mount hole. Making it clean & consistent is the hard part. I didn't spend much time thinking about it, but something like a sanding wheel on a dremel may do better.

You can try that. I ended up using a little wire wheel on a dremel to clear off the powdercoat.

Apologies to all who tried to look for Bandi's instructions on my website. I moved some stuff around and broke the link. It's back:

Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

when building motorcycles I use a razor blade to remove paint or powdercoat. It's more exacting and clean. Wire wheels work, but over-removal may be a risk and show rust over time.

I used a paint scraper (i.e.: razor blade) was easy and precise.

Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

Instead of running the coax I decided to run it down the center of the FJ along wrapped-up wires. Anyone have objections to this?

Right in front of the rear bumper...

Above the differential...
