Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

I didn't and have had no problems over 2.5 years later.

Quick install question: I am putting most of my "Bandi mount" stuff together today.... Did anyone use any LocTite (or any other brand) of thread compound between the quick-release/stud, quick-release/spring, or spring/antenna? It just as a thought to me it might hold it secure....but it might also affect SWR.........

Thoughts?

Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

I just did this install with the Bandi Mount and the pics were a big help. I went with the midland 75-822 CB though, and a firestik 3' set up. Thanks for the how-to it really helped!

Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

I bought the external locking quick disconnect. After a couple days of driving around without the antenna locked into place (just the bottom half of the quick disconnect sticking out of the bandi mount), the little bar that fits into the groove of the top half of the quick disconnect fell out. I am pointing to it in this picture.

I assume that since there was no upward force on this bar to hold it in place, the vibrations of the vehicle eventually knocked it out. Anyone else have this problem? And can just the bottom half of the disconnect not be driven around by itself because during the summer I do a lot of city driving and leave the antenna in my garage?

Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

bigbill25, did you ever think a post from 3 years ago would be so helpful?

Thanks for having to take the time in the first place posting this. I am ready to install a CB, did searches and your original post and instructions, along with all the feedback through the past few years are going to be my template for my installation. And the placement of the CB is exactly what I will be doing, it looks good in that position, out of the way and clean. So thanks!

I've been driving around for quite some time without the antenna in place and I have never had a problem with the stud coming loose. Maybe you just got a back connector.

I know this is an older thread... don't know if any of you guys are still on this channel. I finally got around to installing my Bandi mount and CB two weekends ago. Just wanted to share where I sent the CB cable into the FJC.

Right behind the bumper on the drivers side, and through the floor of the FJC behind the access port is a rubber "tit" that has a bunch of wires running through its "nipple." I managed to get the CB cable through the "nipple," and then re-taped everything. I then ran the cable behind the driver's side rear panneling (a task I got good at while installing my XM raido), underneath the kick pannels in the door area, and into the dash. A couple of pix are attached.
there is also a grommet right under driver seat you access from under FJ....pull it and you see the padding and can go through there over to the black door panel that pops up and reveals a wiring loom. Took this up to front of chair and then ran over to console.... Going to put a little silicone around entry of wire into the rubber grommet just in case but works like charm. Zip tied everything above gas tank and frame as much as possible staying away from exhaust and cat.

Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

I have a quick question for you in the know!

I installed my Cobra CB the other night. Ready for the Summit. It turns out that the 3 foot Firestik is about 2-3 inches too tall for my garage.

Can I use the antenna without the heavy duty spring? or is that not recommended? If I do, I am assuming I would need to tune the radio again right?

Thanks for your help.
