Re: 12 Volt outlet install

Well.. I've seen this splitter + USB and was thinking about tucking it into the center console cubby or in the glovebox.. how would you guys go about splitting it into the FJ to get it to work?..

I looked at that one as well, but the reviews are terrible.. This one has better reviews.. Ron

Re: 12 Volt outlet install

Nice looking out Ron..

The ones I saw are pretty cheap ones from eBay.. so really didn't think of the reviews for them specifically.. neither was expecting top notch quality.. but did come across this one on Amazon, Amazon.com: Multi-Use Car Charger with Dual USB Ports: Cell Phones & Service

Good reviews but not currently available.. will try and see if I can find it from other vendors.. Has only 2 DC sockets.. but also 2 USB ports instead of one..

Re: 12 Volt outlet install

This is great information, thanks.

It's funny, if you click the Fuse Block link (above), and scroll down to the "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought" section, you will see a Warn Receiver Shackle Bracket - .

I'm gonna guess that was you CaliChaos -

Fuse boxes and shackle brackets always go together, don't they?

Re: 12 Volt outlet install

Your intsall looks great! Do you need a fuse block to install the additional DC outlets? I looked at your pics as well as others, and just don't seem to get how the fuse block is installed (connections not mount). I so need more outlets. Thanks for any help you can give.

No need for the fuse block. I just did that because I am adding a bunch of stuff. You can use an add-a-circuit from an auto parts store and use that to get your power from your factory fuse panel. It's easy. Search on here for it and check it out. Good Luck!

Re: 12 Volt outlet install

I've seen several members mount a cb on the back of the center consol. I'd like to install another 12v outlet there. not sure if it's posted anywhere but if i buy the extra outlet where do i run the wires....specifically? is there extra spaces in the fuse box that i just connect it to? how do i make it hot all the time? how do i get through the firewall? i'm new at this stuff.
Thanks

Re: 12 Volt outlet install

I just my my 08 White FJ. THis is the first thing I have to fix onthe FJ is more outlets. DOes anyone know if simply using a spliter will creat any issues. Is there enough juice to the one outlet to share with 2 - 3 other outlets?

THANKS
