my subwoofer choice...

well after reading everyones opinion and doing searches I stuck with my current brand of speakers in my system boston acoustics (some have gave it bad reviews some gave it high end stuff etc..) so I bought the GT3 10inch subwoofer with the GTR tuneable subwoofer.

Boston Acoustics - Mobile Audio - Products

all powered by this amp:

plan to buy the dual 10inch sub enclosure that a vendor here has for 400 bucks still need to raise some funds for that one.

Re: my subwoofer choice...

Just an FYI:

Even though using a passive radiator is totally badass, the enclosure still needs to be the correct volume. The passive radiator's displacement replaces the port volume and is tunable by mass loading.

Short answer: Excellent choice, but care still needs to be taken to do it right.

Another thing I'd like to add is that people typically choose a passive radiator one size bigger than the woofer. It will lower the possibility of distortion. So if you're ding the 10" G3 woofer, get the 12" PR.

This might be a non-issue, but if you're going to buy a dual sealed enclosure...
make sure it is common volume, not individual. lol

The reason I say this is because any dual sealed enclosure worth its salt has two separate chambers. If one of two subs sharing the same sealed volume blows at high volumes, the other sub is likely to exceed its xmax because of the lack of air-spring.

it keeps the box rigid and box shape isnt as critcal because you dont have huge alignment issues within the box. also, if you are running an amp on each woofer, you will have issues with a single chamber. with perfectly identical amps and settings, they still wont be the same. evem woofers wont be identical. one woofer will end up beating up the other one. and whenever you blow one, you can put money on the other one going too.
