Let's put it this way, If you have a Home theater Room, Try disconecting the Sub and get the full effect out of the movie. Just not the same anymore.
no, this is my point exactly. home theater needs a sub because of explosions, and classical musical scores hit lower frequencies than a normal bookshelf speaker size can hit. but for rock music this is not the case. yes a sub will change the sound to vibrate your windows and such, but this in my opinion is not how the sound is meant to be heard. just my opinion, which is clearly not the common one.
Every vehicle made should come standard with two 12" subs, with about 500 watts going to each one. you don't know what you are missing. If you get one 10" , that will sound good for a while, then you need 2. but wait that still isn't enough so you upgrade to 2- 12" 's. Darn it. " I want more " you say to yourself, so you buy a bigger amp and better subs. but that won't quite do it, so You amp up every speaker in the car. Getting there... And finally a top of line head unit. Ah, and satellite radio too, now that is about right, without going overboard.... or no?
Belosh - if you are happy with no sub in your car audio setup, more power to you. To me it is like swimming in a 3-foot deep swimming pool - you can do it, sure - but no depth.

HAHAHA.
No realy though with rock music you can get away without subs however let's say you are listening to Metallica and you do an A and B comparison with and without subs. You will know what I mean. You can propably do a 8" Sub and be very very happy. Because I know the type of music you want to listen to and believe me One little 8" sub will add a world to Rock music. Specially the 8W7...

I've never had a car with a [decent] sub. But I have pretty high-end home audio gear (Krell FP250 amps, Martin Logan speakers, etc). So I can assure you that there is lots of sound that is meant to be heard that won't squeeze through a 6 1/2" speaker. How much of that sound you're willing to pay to hear is the question.. there's always that point of diminishing returns.
Next week I will replacing the front speakers with
6.5" components Focal access I will place the tweeter where the 3.5' dahs speakers are
I will add 5.25' JL speakers on the back seat
A 10' JL W1 sub
4 channel JL amp ( I will run the components and the 5.25 with the two fron channels and will leave the other tow for the sub)
Later when I get more money I will buy a JL mono amp for the sub and will keep the 4 channel just for the speakers.
Do you think this will work?
What would you do differently

Hey FJ Guga - are you mounting the amp(s) under your seats? There are sure a lot of little items like grounding points, power distribution, capacitor, etc that I completely was naive about -- the cheesy self-installs I've done in the past .
I normally would just ground to a seat mount, that sort of thing. This time I am actually going to spend some time on it. Complete NOOB though - the only thing that helps a little is that I understand wiring basics.
Stinger seems to be a decent manufacturer of all the 'little items' you need to do a decent install. Angry Andy I am not. Speaking of Andy - I loved the wood strips to the floor then mount the amp on top, but I don't think there is enough room with the bigger JL Amps. (the Fosgate is stealthier).
