Re: Sirius Satellite Radio "No Sell" Until After Christmas

Yo Rondo,

so how much for everything you bought/used to install? I think others on the forum would be interested in knowing to compare fjammer sirius to aftermarket headunit replacement with sirius hookup.

toyandgadget guy - 184 is the default hook up station on sirius. I've installed 3 or 4 sirius devices in the last year, and it always is the channel they ask you tune to so they can 'detect' your unit and activate it. I believe it is the weather station.

As well, every sirius unit I've had turns to 184 on initial boot up/start up. Once you activate, it remembers your last station when you turn it on.

Given this, making an educated guess, I'd say your unit is going back to default upon every startup. Since you have already activated the unit, it searches for coverage, finds it, and and tunes in to 184.

Sounds like the sirius unit is bad. Take it back if you can't live with it (and believe me, that would annoy me).
It's that, and more. The presets keep disappearing... and intermittantly, I can't access the Sirius option. Today, it stayed on the satellite source input. Yesterday, I couldn't access it. The day before, I kept having it reset to 184. Yes, 184 is the weather channel (and the default). I'm thinking the same as you... the Sirius module, the connection cable, or the FJammer is defective. I have multiple units in multiple vehicles, and haven't ever had these kinds of problems. Granted, they aren't anything life altering... but I figured that the forums were the place to talk about it.

Re: Sirius Satellite Radio "No Sell" Until After Christmas

Well Socalboo, hold on to your hat.
the reciever listed at $199.00
the Fit kit listed at $100.00

The Parts manager discounted them to $175.00 and $87.50
Grand total rip off of $283.37 out the door.
There were no other costs involved. I didn't need anything other then what was in the toyota boxes to install. The install required a philips screw driver and a 10mm socket. If it weren't for the 45mins trying to decide where to mount the reciever it would have been installed in less then 30mins.

Re: Sirius Satellite Radio "No Sell" Until After Christmas

BY THE WAY!

I never really did find a place to mount the reviever. I actually just wrapped it in a small towel and placed it next to the computer behind the passenger kick panel. I checked with Toyota service and they assured me that nothing gets hot and it will be no problem. Its very secure and cant move or rattle. I will mount it properly as soon as Toyota has documentation on where it belongs.

Re: Sirius Satellite Radio "No Sell" Until After Christmas

Good morning!

Spoke to the dealership on Saturday morning. I had ordered the Sirius package last week. According to the dealer, the head and kit arrived within a few days. Waiting on the antenna to be delivered, should be here Tuesday. I will let you know if there is a delay.

rondo,

what was involved with mounting the antenna? that's my only concern - ie. pulling down the roofliner.

thanks.

Here ya go Cheechwizzard

http://brockandbecca.com/files/fj/Radio/XM%20Radio.pdf

Pages 8 - 15 are all you'll need. You dont need to remove anything to install the antenna. Even these instructions are too involved, I just tucked it behind the rubber seal in the passanger door way down to the top of the Kick panel and right into the back of the sirius reciever. The instructions above are a great find. If you go back a few levels to:

Toyota FJ Cruiser: Resources & Documentation Archive
You'll see what I mean.

Go for it Cheech!
It's not like your getting a break from the dealer on the parts if they do the install. If you get into it and feel uncomfortable, just stop and bring it in to the dealer. They're charging anywhere from 2 to 4 hours labor at like $80.00 an hour. You have nothing to loose.
Good Luck
