Quick note on caps.

-Caps are pretty much always a good thing to have with amps, as a rule of thumb you want 1 Farad for every 1000 watts of rms power.
-Caps basically function as a quick discharge power reserve. This serves 2 main purposes. 1 it saves your bat and alternator from being damaged or having their lives shortened by uneven and demanding power draw from the audio system. It also keeps the "disco" (lights dimming ect) effect from happening alot of times when a big draw occurs. 2 it makes your system sound better by giving it the power it wants. This is especially true in the case of sustained bass, where you have the 1st bass beat sound full, and then weaken due to a lack of power.
-Caps should be installed as close to the amp/amps as possible. Less distance traveled means faster power delivery
-You can use caps as a distribuiton point, but it's not advisable.
-With multiple amps, it's best to run a higher gage wire 1 or 4 from bat to fuse to cap, then to a distrib block. Then run smaller gage out of the block 4 or 8.

Wow, seems like exactly what I read form the manual on caps hehe. Is that where you got that information? It must be true if it comes from the cap manual.

Regardless, to the original poster, why do you need one again? What is your system lacking that you think the cap will fix? It is in lack of bling? Lights dimming? Not enough weight? Or do you simply have to much money and dont know what to do with it? hehe

Northshore - that is really cool of you. If I can't get the Stinger one to fit - somewhere - I'll take you up on that. The Ebay guy with the blue one wouldn't give me any real specs. The good news is, the 300/4 fits under the driver's seat without problems. The bad news is I won't get the 500/1 for under the passenger seat until Tuesday. I may have to rethink all of it and come up with some way to mount the 500/1 and cap in the back near the subs . Maybe on one of those JL metal stick-out racks I've seen.

Glueing down the mounting strips under the floor with '90-second epoxy? - pure comedy yesterday - got more it on me than the floor ....

No problem just let me know. Also I would be a little leary of those caps on ebay. I'm not fond of buying " Bandit " electronics of any kind. Just like the old saying you get what you pay for. Stick with a reputable brand. That's funny about the glue!
