Cargo Area Panel Removal

After searching through the posts, I can't find anyone who has removed the passenger side rear interior panel. (where the sub would be....if I had one). I've managed to get the thing half off, but still having trouble finding the rest of the mounting points.

Do I have to remove the upper panel (white one)??

I think someone has written this up.. maybe in the rear door release?

Anyway, the part you are probably missing is that there are 3 screws holding the panel to the floor of the cargo area. To get to these screws you must first remove the trim panel that sits below the rear door. You'll ski 5 screws, take them out. Then pop the piece out (5 pops). Now take the covers off, and unbolt the rear cargo "D" rings. Now you can pull the plastic flooring piece right out, and get access to the 3 screws holding the panel in.

You also have to, I believe, remove the rear seat.

Will a simple slot nose screwdriver pop out the D ring bolts??

Thanks

Not if we're talking about the same thing. The 2 "D" rings on the rear floor of the cargo area are bolted in pretty firmly. You remove the rubber/plastic cover with a screwdriver, but then you have to take the bolts out to remove to the "D" rings to make it easy to get the plastic flooring out.

It may be possible to wiggle the plastic out without removing the rings, but removing the rings is about a 15 second job.

The XM Radio install has detailed directions on how to remove the right rear panel(s). The can be found here, http://brockandbecca.com/files/fj/Ac...XM%20Radio.pdf

When I did my XM install the upper and lower panel came out together, but once out they separated I re-installed them one at a time. On the removal they were kind of hung up on the left side as you face them.

Good Luck...

Ahh, those are bolts with plastic covers on it. Thanks Chris.
