Are these good speakers and will they fit??

Okay so i have cq package fj. As we all know stereo lacks all gusto that the vehicle posseses. My friend gave me a pair of 6.5 JL audio VR650-CXI speakers he no longer wanted, are these good speakers?. Will these work well in my front doors if i plan to add new rear pillar speakers and new dash speakers as well as a sub or should i try to mount them somewhere else custom in the back?? and try to do 8 or 6x9s in the door. I am new to this audio game so your help would be most appreciated. additionally would these speakers be a large improvement over the stock speakers?

Re: Recieved a pair of speakers how should i build the rest?

go to 2005 Toyota Tacoma Speaker and Dash Mount Kits get you some door brackets to mount them in the front doors. cost about 50 bucks. Worth every penny.

Re: Recieved a pair of speakers how should i build the rest?

yeah those are nice speakers, they would probably sound alot better than stock. id try to find a decent 4 channel amp to power your 4 bigger speakers, say the 6x9's and the JL 6.5's. I'm not sure how much room you all have in those doors, but id just buy a new pair of 6x9's for the front and try to mount those 6.5's a different way in the back. And for bass, 6x9's put off pretty good bass if your just into a good sound quality. It depends how you like your music.

I have these in the front : Polk MOMO's, but mine are 5x7
Polk/MOMO MMC690 6''x9'' 3-way car speakers at Crutchfield.com

I have a difference series in the back because the speakers have such a big magnet, they wouldnt fit in the wall. but they sound really good and they arent even amped, i'm probably gonna amp them soon because of all the bass i'll have. but yeah i like sound quality alot, id just replace all the speakers, component speakers if you wanna spend alot, which i didnt get. you have 6 speakers, right?

trainman got you on the right track. tacotunes has speaker kit for the FJC designed for the 6.5". Don't forget a harness kit. $50 bucks and about thirty minutes of your time, you'll be good-to-go.

With that outta the way, you'll have plenty of time to mull over amps and such!

Good luck.. Nice speakers btw..

Re: Recieved a pair of speakers how should i build the rest?

IMO i would do an 8" or a 6"x9" in the front door, and mount the 6.5"s in that little empty pocket right next to each rear passanger. (not on the door, a farther towards the back of the seats)

That is a tight fit - The rear seat pockets will fit a 5.25" round speaker with no problems - just installed the woofers of a JL audio VR Component set - but a 6.5" will be tight. Not saying it cannot be done, just saying you will have to be real careful cutting the hole in order to get it to mount flush.

I would lean toward putting the 6" VR set in the front doors and adding a sub - if you want to use what you have. I have the TacoTunes 6x9 spacers - this is really the best way to go - just get the ones for 6.5" round speakers. Put a modest sub and amp combo in and you should be good to go.

Re: Recieved a pair of speakers how should i build the rest?

so would i suffer much sound quality if i went with the 6.5s in hte front doors instead of the 6x9s and replaced the rest of the speakers and added a sub. Or could i custom fit the 6.5s in the back pillars??
