Unhappy Need XM advice

Hey all, very new to the board, and just picked up my titanium last week end.
I had my XM delphi skyphi 2 (from last truck) installed on Friday. The sound quality is very poor. Today spent 1 hour on hold with XM and they had me change my freq to a different channel. Now I have good bass but poor treble even at 5. What can I do to get my sound back? Please help

Re: Need XM advice

2 solutions.

1. depending on the radio you have(no 6 disc changer), you may be able to use a direct link piece either dice or usa spec, i believe the usa spec piece is about $70 without the ipod interface.

2. buy a hardwired fm modulator that will give you better results (usually about $50)

We sell em both if you are interested, otherwise most of the usual sources will have em.
Wireless fm mods generally suck, worse in large urban areas where almost every fm freq is taken up.

Re: Need XM advice

I do have the 6 disc changer - does that mean the direct link piece will not work? Do I have any other options having the 6 disc changer?

They guy that installed the XM suggested maybe hardwiring it to the back of the radio. Would that do the same thing as the 'hardwired fm modulator'?

Re: Need XM advice

Yeah, this is the best suggestion for your scenario, I think the skifi fm mod is like $30.

Well worth it, you will still get FM quality sound, but the hissing and buzzing and cutting in and out should go away. Should sound like the best radio station you ever heard.

Thumbs up Re: Need XM advice

Rugger:

Take a look on my FJ WWW Site (URL in Signature) and I deal with XM. I have a Delphi also and it works about as well as compressed digital music will let it. If you connect the audio output from the Skyphi into the AUX output, it sounds 200% better than using an FM channel.

Some XM channels are more compressed (result: less fidelity) than others. That is why XM asked you to change channels.

I've always wondered about that. Some channels, like Watercolors in particular, sound great, with clear highs and rich bass, and then some others don't sound so hot.
