I've had subscriptions to both and preferred Sirius. You'll have to check out the programming and decide for yourself. I think Sirius may offer to listen for free over the internet for a few days..
On Sirius I listen to Underground Garage, Boombox, NFL, NBA, NPR, et..
I have had both and Sirius just seems to have a larger library of music which is very important to me. I don't listen to sports but Stern is a big selling point for me as well.
Howard Stern, Bubba the Love Sponge, NFL, NASCAR (just moved from XM) Margaritaville (Jimmy Buffet). I have had Sirius for 6 years and just added another receiver to my FJ.
I have had sirius for 5+ years and recently my antennae cord ripped so I am without it and it is driving me crazy I don't know how people do without it. I can't wait to get my nav system and sirius tuner. As far as comparing them Sirius has better music selection plus Howard and NFL. However XM is good they do have MLB and PGA (who listens to golf on the radio anyways). It really is personal prefrence check them both out. I have heard however that XM is possibly going out of business soon but that is not verified.

I listen to golf on the radio, and, in truth, that's the original reason I went with XM instead of Sirius. The "XM going out of business" rumor is nonsense - they currently have over twice the subscribers that Sirius does. The more plausible scenario would be one buying the other out. As far as Howard Stern, the biggest draw that Sirius has, it's widely discussed in the radio industry that the number of new subscribers as a result of his move away from terrestrial radio has been disappointing in consideration of his $500,000,000 contract.
