I read so many rearview camera posts. But I am actually thinking about installing a camera in front of the bumper to guide myself while going through large obstacles especially going uphill where visibility at its minumum. any input will be usefull. Thanks.

its a good idea, but what about dirt? maybe you need some tear offs like those motox guys have on their helmets.

best vantage point might be up high on the roof and angled down. I guess the best way to tell would be to try it in several different locations and see what works best. Certainly a good way to make videos and not be distracted by trying to control a camera. Just might work.

Two words, NIGHT VISION :-)

If you have a roof rack, attach it to that. Angle it down. If you want to get fancy, get one that self levels or that you can control directionally from inside. Sounds like a great idea.

Thanks for all your inputs guys. I also have a remote control mirror assembly from Grandpa's Camry. When he hit the trash can (came out of nowhere!!! I replaced the whole unit, so have that remote system.) I am trying to see if I could put the camera lens on it so It could actually change direction of the camera. That way, say obstacles on vehicles right front end just change the direction of the lens and here you go! just have to find a location for the switch.
