I'm considering having a Parrot Bluetooth kit installed in the FJ to work with my Treo 650 - does anyone have any input or experience with this combination?
Hi, Colink - like a good forum member, I had already done the search and found the thread you referenced. I was just checking around to see if anyone had any experience specifically with the Treo 650 and one of the Parrot kits. Thanks, though....
Installed Parrot 3200 color unit tonight to go with my treo 650, also ordered the tom tom gps kit for the treo. The gps was working earlier today. did one test call tonight, seemed to work good. Its nice having the sound come through the speakers, driver can definitely hear clear. My biggest concern has been sound quality on the other end between calls w/ clients and conference calls with the other dirctors in my office. I'll post again in a week or so after I have some experience with it. I also beleive that the gps directions will come through the speakers.
Installing your self is not that bad, the hardest part is determining where to mount and taking apart dash, etc. Wiring is a cinch as long as you order the extra wiring harness (see previous post).
Am hoping that this thing will work w/ the iphone! Was checking it out, that looks great.
Update: Everything on the car end seems to work fine. Have the Tom Tom GPS which Bluetooths to the treo 650 & then the Parrot color unit which bluetooths w/ the phone. Thought I had ordered the GPS parrot, but I guess I was mistaken. The speaker phone works good, sound level is better if you leave the radio on, volumn drops when the radio is off (must use the radios ampifier for boost). system seems to automatically cut off the mic when you are not talking so it eliminates needless background noise being heard on the other side. GPS directions do not cut through the radio, just come out the phone, works fine though.
Only issue seems to be the standard Treo 650 bluetooth problems. For those not in the know the 650 is not the most stable bluetooth platform and seems to have problems and will reset itself radomly or if you overtax the bluetooth function. Overall though I am very happy with it.
I have a treo 650 and a parrot ck3100. I can answer or hang up a call, view who is calling me, drag contacts over 1 by 1 and store in parrot, make a call using most recent calls made, missed or recieved. The only time i would ever have problems would be if I have to much data stored in the treo. So I bought a SD card and it is fine.
